Privacy Policy

Overview
Wean ("the app", "we") helps you understand and manage how you use apps on your phone. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We built Wean to work mostly on-device, and we try to collect as little as possible.
Information we collect
App usage data. With your permission (Android Usage Access), Wean reads which apps you open and for how long, so it can build your budgets, rhythm heatmap, and insights. This data is stored locally on your device in an on-device database.
Account information. If you create an account or use partner accountability, we use Firebase Authentication and Firestore to store your account identifier and the minimum data needed to sync your settings and connect you with a partner.
Accessibility Service. If you enable Wean's blocking feature, it uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect when a budgeted app is opened, so Wean can return you to the home screen. This service is used only for that purpose — it does not read or transmit the content of other apps.
Purchase information. Subscription and purchase status for Pro is managed by Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation of your entitlement (active/expired), not your payment details — Google handles all payment information.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. We don't use advertising SDKs or ad-tracking networks in the app. We don't read the content of your messages, browsing, or other apps — only which app is in the foreground and for how long.
How we use your data
Usage data powers the features you see in the app: budgets, the rhythm heatmap, ambient nudges, recovery days, and insights. Where an account exists, we use account data to sync your settings across sessions and, if you opt in, to support the partner accountability feature.
Data sharing
We share data only with the service providers that make the app work — currently Google (Firebase, for authentication/sync, and Play Billing, for purchases). If you enable partner accountability, the partner you invite sees a summary of your budgets and progress that you've agreed to share. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your locally stored usage data at any time from within the app. If you have an account, you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@weanapp.co. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
Children's privacy
Wean is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
